The coconut palm is widely cultivated throughout the country, covering an expansive area of nearly 200,000 hectares. This cultivation serves as a significant income source for approximately 390,000 farming households, contributing to the export value of both coconut fruit and coconut-derived products.

Currently, the entire country has 90 coconut-related enterprises, with 42 businesses producing coconut products nationwide. Notably, the coconut industry community has boldly invested in technology and organic material cultivation areas, and many coconut farms covering hundreds of hectares have been established in Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Binh Dinh, and other provinces, leading the trend and contributing to a superior export turnover in the near future.

COCONUT VIETNAM EXPORT INDUSTRY EYES 1 BILLION USD IN EXPORT TURNOVER

According to the US agency, Vietnamese producers are eligible to commence the export of husked coconuts to the US immediately. The sole phytosanitary conditions for shipments will be enforced exclusively at US points of entry.

Ben Tre has five enterprises that export fresh coconuts to markets, including Japan, Singapore, Taiwan (China), Australia, and Canada. About 20 companies have registered to get packaging facility codes and planting area codes that enable them to export coconut to the Chinese market.

2023 – OPPORTUNITY FOR VIETNAM’S COCONUT VIETNAM EXPORT TO US AND CHINA

In August 2023, Vietnamese coconut growers and businesses are excited to expand production to meet the domestic and foreign demand which is expected to increase in the coming time as the US officially opened its market for Vietnam’s fresh coconut in August this year, and China is considering to allowing official coconut import.

 

DOMESTIC COCONUT VIETNAM EXPORT PRICE TRIPLES AFTER US EXPORT NEWS 

The domestic coconut market has many positive signals after the news that the US officially opened to Vietnamese husked coconut. Vietnam ranks seventh in coconut production worldwide with an area of over 188,000 ha, mainly concentrated in the Mekong Delta.
After there was information that Vietnamese fresh husked coconuts can be exported to the U.S., the price of fresh coconuts in the Mekong Delta has increased again.
